RIDING HAT STANDARDS

In order to ensure riders are wearing the most up to date riding hats, please note that from the 1st January 2023, the following hat standards will no longer be accepted, due to the age of hats made to these standards:

1.   PAS  O15 1998

2.   SNELL 2001

PAS 015 – 2011 and SNELL – E2016 are still both acceptable

For safety and insurance reasons, HVRC members must wear a hat conforming to the new standards when riding at all HVRC clinics and competitions.

BODY PROTECTOR STANDARDS

From 1st January 2024, the BETA 2009 safety certification will no longer be permitted for use at British Eventing, British Riding Club and Pony Club competitions. This means that the BETA 2018 standard will be required when riding at any event run under these organisations.

So, if your equestrian body protector is marked with the BETA 2009 standard, it’s time to start thinking about getting a new one in time for the rule changes next year.

whips used for jumping must be padded. The ‘pad’ must be smooth with no protrusion or raised surface (which include embroidery) and be made of a shock absorbing material throughout its circumference. One whip, no longer than 75cm (and must be no less than 45cm) and not weighted, may be carried when jumping any obstacle in British Eventing competitions.
